Apple announces Mac Studio with M1 Ultra chip
Apple introduced its first new Mac model years ago with the Mac Studio, a desktop computer that doesn’t have a display. It’s a cube-shaped aluminum box with USB-C ports and an SD card slot on the front.
It’s longer than the current Mac Mini. The extra height of the large fans is used to keep the computer temperature low.
Apple also announced a separate 27-inch display called the Studio Display with 5K resolution, with an Apple chip, speakers and a built-in camera.
The computer uses a high-performance M1 Ultra processor, which the company says is more powerful than current M1 chips.
Mac Studio with the older M1 Max chip starts at $199. The model with the M1 Ultra starts at $3999. Studio offer starts at $1,599.
Apple said the M1 Ultra essentially doubles the size of Apple’s previous M1 chips using a connectivity technology it calls UltraFusion. Apple said it has more transistors than any other computer chip and includes a 64-core graphics processor.
Apple said the Mac Studio with the M1 Ultrais is 80% faster than the best-in-class Mac Pro, which retails for more than $50,000.
“We’ve switched nearly every product in the Mac lineup to Apple Silicon,” Cook said.

Apple has announced a new version of the mid-range iPad, the iPad Air. It uses the Apple M1 processor, which is the chip used in the more expensive iPad Pro and MacBook Air models. It also has optional support for 5G networks.
The front camera has been upgraded to a 12MP camera with a wide-angle lens, enabling a feature called Center Stage that can follow subjects as they move in the frame during video conferencing.
It will cost $599, with optional storage and cellular upgrades. It’s the same price it was sold at before. It will hit store shelves on March 18th.

Over 150,000 people watch YouTube Live
Five minutes before Apple’s show is about to begin, more than 150,000 people are streaming the event on YouTube. It’s a sign that Apple can still generate significant consumer demand for its products through carefully designed launch events. Last year at the launch of the iPhone 13, more than 300,000 viewers watched five minutes ahead of schedule. – How to leswing
Expect news about iOS 15.4 update for iPhone
Find news about the release date of the latest iPhone and iPad software from Apple. The iOS 15.4 update is expected to include a long-awaited revision of the Face ID feature, which will allow users to unlock their iPhone while wearing a mask, just as mandates for masks are being raised nationwide. Other features include a new emoji and a new payment product that allows iPhone users to accept credit card payments without additional hardware.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook invites customers to ‘peek’
The slogan for Tuesday’s event is “Performance Peek”. While marketing slogans often don’t quite match what’s released, Apple has been applying generic themes to its releases since it went far in 2020 — last year was “spring loaded.” – How to leswing
Apple’s Mac business has caught fire with its M-series chipset
Apple hasn’t said what it plans to release today, but if it does end up releasing new Mac models, as bloggers and media reports have suggested, it will add more momentum to Apple’s oldest product line.
In the last quarter ending in December, Apple reported $10.8 billion in Mac revenue, which was up 25% year over year. Macs were a bigger company in terms of sales than iPads in 2021.
The Apple Mac is experiencing a rebirth thanks to new models with better battery life, powered by Apple’s M-series chipset. Apple announced a move away from Intel in 2020 in favor of chips it originally designed for its iPhones, but later dedicated to laptops and desktops. Tuesday’s powerful new Mac model will be another big step in that transition to a family of computers fully powered by Apple chips. – How to leswing
Apple online store is down
Apple’s online store is down, to no one’s surprise. The company has a long-standing tradition of closing its online store to customers until the launch event is over, partly to increase hype, partly to prevent people from buying a product that will be outdated or cheaper minutes before a new one is announced.

Expect a new low-cost iPhone priced at around $399
Todd Haselton | CNBC
Reports have indicated that we will see a new low-cost iPhone today. My guess is the successor to the iPhone SE launched in 2020 for $399, but with 5G and the same processor that Apple includes in the iPhone 13. The phone will cater to people who still want a home button and don’t need all the flashy features of Apple’s more expensive iPhones. . One thing to watch: Will Apple keep the current iPhone SE and sell it for a lower price? At $199, it might better compete with similarly priced Android phones.
