Apple is working on the M3 iMac, but don’t expect that anytime soon

Apple M2 processors haven’t been announced yet, but a new report claims the company is already working on an iMac powered by the M3 chip.

apple Work has begun on an iMac running the M3 and is set to be launched at the end of 2023, according to a new report. Apple started ditching Intel chips for internal silicon in 2020. The company initially used M1 chips for Macs and MacBooks, and recently unveiled the M1-powered iPad Air with a starting price of $599. The second generation M2 chips are expected to be revealed soon.

The M1 chip is currently available in the following variants – the base M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra. The M1 processor powers Apple’s suite of affordable products such as the iMac Pro, Mac mini, MacBooks, iPad Pro, and the 24-inch iPad Air. Meanwhile, the M1 Max and M1 Pro are reserved for the MacBook Pro series. Finally, the M1 Ultra was only used in the powerful Mac Studio, which delivers workstation-level performance. Despite this fine segmentation of the product, there is still room for more devices that provide more power.
