My heartbreak with my Canon AE-1 resulted in shooting with a Nikon FM2 instead

The first movie camera I ever bought was a Canon AE-1, and I loved it. Everything about her felt good. I loved the resistance of the film’s advance lever, the sound it makes when you hit the shutter, and the weight of it in my hand. I’ve shot rolls and rolls of film with it and enjoyed learning more about the show, even if I don’t always get it right.

One day, the worst thing that could happen to a film photographer happened. I finished my film roll with a Canon AE-1 and enthusiastically took off to the development lab. I left it and couldn’t wait to see the pictures, so I paid extra to have it done within an hour.
