Samsung QLED and Lifestyle 2022 TVs recognized by top global accreditation institutes for eye comfort, safety and color accuracy

• Lifestyle TVs receive “Glare-Free” verification from UL, and “Eye Care” certification from VDE in Germany
• Twenty new QLED models named the world’s first “Pantone Validated” screens

Samsung Electronics today announced that its 2022 QLED and Lifestyle TVs have been recognized by the world’s leading certification institutes for eye safety and color technology. This news comes as the company announced its latest QLED and Lifestyle TVs at CES 2022.

Samsung Lifestyle 2022 TVs are ‘Eye Care’ certified by Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) in Germany, one of Europe’s largest scientific technical associations with over 36,000 members. The certification applies to 2022 Samsung Lifestyle TV models including The Frame, The Serif and The Sero. Monitors are evaluated based on various categories, including “safety”, “kind to the eye”, flicker level, uniformity, and color accuracy.

New Lifestyle TVs have been evaluated for blue light emission safety and melatonin inhibition levels based on the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Light Hazard Classification Method. Samsung Lifestyle 2022 TVs meet International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards for screen flickering, which can cause eye strain or headaches for viewers. They were also honored for their excellence in color accuracy and uniform image quality, both of which contribute to the level of eye comfort while watching TV.

Samsung Lifestyle TVs 20221 It has also been verified as “Glare-Free” by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent leader in the science of safety. UL Verification validates a “Glare-Free” claim by evaluating products against the Unified Glare Rating (UGR) test standard set by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). New Samsung Lifestyle TV models use a new Matte screen with anti-glare, anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint properties to deliver optimum brightness and best picture quality without glare.

  • Reflected glare, which determines whether objects on the TV screen are visible even when external light is reflected off the surface
  • Annoying glare, which determines whether the TV screen is too bright
  • Disability Glare, which determines whether the TV screen is too bright when watching TV in a dark room

These glare ratings were calculated based on test results of TV viewing at both 300 lux, which corresponds to a brightly lit work area, and 70 lux, which is typically the value of a dimly lit work area.

In addition, Samsung’s all-new 2022 QLED models have received the world’s first Pantone Certified Certification from Pantone, the world’s renowned brand in the global color industry and maker of the Pantone Matching System (PMS).

These models receiving this recognition from Pantone include all 20 newly released models – 15 QLED TVs in both 4K and 8K and five screens. Samsung’s 2022 QLED TV range has been recognized for its accurate expression of 2030 Pantone colors and the addition of 110 new skin tones.
