Vivo launched another iPhone 13 killer! After announcing the Vivo X Note phone and the first Vivo foldable phone, it has now revealed the Vivo X80 series in the Chinese market. The most popular feature is called Vivo X80 Pro and there is a more affordable variant called Vivo X80. They both rock the latest processors from Qualcomm and MediaTek but differ significantly in terms of camera hardware. If these phones are launched in India, it could give the current 2022 Android flagships a run for their money.
Given that it is exclusive to China at the moment, global prices can vary greatly. However, if you’re interested, you’ll be happy to know that the base model starts at CNY 5,499, or $840 and goes up to CNY 6,699, or $1020. These phones can be opted for either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip or the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The regular Vivo X80 starts at CNY 3,699 for the base 8GB/128GB variant and can only be had with the Dimensity 9000 chipset.
Vivo X80 series could be the iPhone 13 killer
Vivo X80 Pro introduces a chipset for the first time. You can get it with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Dimensity 9000 chip. Whichever version you choose, the phone will come standard with a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO 2 display with a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. This device has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor with a larger detection area.
The rear camera setup features a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GNV sensor with f/1.57 lens for the main camera, a 12MP Sony IMX663 2X zoom camera with OIS gimbal, an 8MP 5X telephoto camera with OIS, and a 48MP Sony IMX598 Ultra-wide camera . Other details include the Vivo V1 + ISP chip and Zeiss T* lens coating. The front camera has a 32-megapixel sensor.
To power all of that, the phone houses a 4,700mAh battery and supports an 80W wired charging solution along with a 50W wireless charging solution. The phone can be had in black, orange and green, with a choice of different materials including Vegan Leather, AG Glass and Ceramic. Whichever version you choose, the phone will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.
The standard Vivo X80 can only be had with the Dimensity 9000 chipset, and the 6.7-inch Samsung E5 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1500 nits. Cameras get an older version, too – the main camera is a 50MP Sony IMX8666 sensor with OIS, a 2X zoom camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The battery capacity is slightly smaller at 4500mAh and you get the same 80W wired charging support. However, it is missing the wireless charging feature.
